Michael Hernandez’s work is an alchemical approach to materials, symbols, and form. Through the use of neon, glass, and mixed media he creates sculptural symbols and forms that address the flux in our physical surroundings. Hernandez has been working with neon for the past seven years, exploring a range technical and artistic approach to the medium. He holds a BFA from Emporia State University (KS) and a MFA from Alfred University (NY). Hernandez resides in San Marcos, CA where he runs his private studio and heads the glass area at Palomar College.
