Kendall Frank Studio
Taking inspiration from natural and built environments, Kendall Frank’s artistic practice is driven by observing, collecting, and cataloging. Frank splits time between her Philadelphia apartment caring for her cats and working at the WheatonArts glass studio in Southern New Jersey. She benefits from using a variety of glass-making techniques, allowing her to achieve diverse effects in upcycling and transforming glass. The artist considers the gravity of environmental changes, utilizing glass scraps and low-impact electric kilns to create unique fused glass jewelry.
The artist uses small scraps of colorful flat sheets of glass, and breaks them into small bits that can be collaged onto a base of clear glass. These forms are placed into a kiln and brought up to 1480 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature where the glass fully melts together and becomes one solid object.
