Grace Whiteside

Grace Whiteside is a Brooklyn-based artist whose practice is heavily focused in sculptural glass blowing, set design, and performance. In 2017 she received two BFA degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University in Sculpture/ Extended Media and Craft/ Material Studies.

Inspired by the futuristic Italian Furniture designer Ettore Sottsass and the stylistic drawings from Dr. Suess, Whiteside aims to challenge one's preconceived ideas of function, strategies of proportion and methodology of color. The identity of these objects may fluctuate between sculpture and centerpiece, household vessel and stage prop, blurring lines between design, craft and the function of the everyday.
