Amy Lemaire's Trade Bead Series
Amy Lemaire gravitates towards objects that carry a social currency. Amy sees the glass bead as a unit of cultural worth or an actualization of value.
Her Trade Bead Series is comprised of her sculptural glass beads which are sandblasted to reveal a subtle ceramic-like surface. You can click on any of the images below to see more information.
Amy is a Brooklyn based artist and exhibits her work nationally. She holds a BFA from the School of Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Pratt Institute. Amy is currently the Director of the Bead Project at UrbanGlass and an adjunct professor in the Glass Art Program at Salem Community College.
