UrbanSparkle 2023
In it's sixth year, UrbanSparkle is UrbanGlass's annual exhibition and sale of jewelry made by artists whose practice is focused in glass. We aim to highlight new artists and collections made by folks throughout the glass community. This year's exhibition highlights artist who are working with clear glass but enhancing the material or showing sits possibilities in a variety of ways.
About the Artists:
Joanna Manousis enjoys the process of creating shifts in perception and an altered sense of reality for the viewer/wearer with her collection. She is incorporating faceted gemstones with printed illustrations for her wearable artwork. Karen Kriegel‘s presented collection introduces glass to her practice with clear, organic forms that are reminiscent of her fluid metal structures. Kathryn Kirk Murphy often uses mirrors and reflection in her work to distort and confront reflection. This collection expands off of her production line of repurposed mirrors by adding a layer of distortion with clear glass beads to warp the image of the viewer. Maria Aroche has been working in glass for more than 15 years and continues her creative journey by making an entirely clear collection that adds color through the alchemical inclusion of gold and silver.
